The English class 2013

Personally I believe that to have  English classes at the university is useful in both the passing of the years of study .There are some teachers who require reviewing literature in this language, there's a lot of research is often not translated into Spanish that recently performed and times not handle the language well not have accessibility .

On the blog , I think I used enough to practice how I had write in English, because in my case has helped me a lot to remember and re- implement joint foreign phrases .

I feel I should improve my English in all aspects , as I feel that I have an empty of years after losing the practice of the language when I left the school in 2008. This should be a bit self-taught study with some CD's that I have or may in the near future to apply for a course offering of CORFO . I would like the international language certification .

Out of the English class , the way I learn , remember and use is mostly listening to songs in that language because I like many singers and groups who sing in English . 

Many times when I dont understand what they say looking letters and try to translate them or when I get lazy and I look translations comparing the translation with the original lyrics , as they often Spanish versions are not all the same and do not understand like the original lyrics .

I would like to emphasize the great importance today is handling this language because it is present everywhere and is a much more universal than the Spanish language.

How was my 2013 ?

Well, today I will tell us about my year 2013: the truth for me has been a  quite moved  year about emotions , successes and failures . Let me first from by major good things that happened to me at the University feel I've established more robust in terms of my professional interests to have lived experiences that strengthened my decision to devote to community psychology in the future, where for I have had the experience of sharing with important Latin American teachers in this branch that opened my mind and made ​​me ask new challenges. Another good things this year was to have met and established a great friendship with 2 cousins to which I consider than my sisters

About situations that did not go well I can say that my emotional state was not very good this year and I got to have a lot of anxiety problems and that affected me sick . That is why today I am in psychotherapy.

About the achievements , I'm very happy for feeling good career as a student , as this year I started a new path that is related to what I mentioned before. I would add that another thing that made me feel good was having presented at a seminar on socio-natural disasters and later our work has been published internationally in a magazine in Spain.

As for the outstanding things , I would have defined my second best professional practice, and so far I closed the doors to travel to Bolivia and I only have a practice here in Santiago.

From everything I lived , ate and danced highlight this year was good in several aspects regarding work status and academic , but as far as feelings has not been the best since I made mistakes that I would not make , but rescued experiences that you always learn something.

Computers provide more connection to your life

I met the computer when I was aprroximately 6 years old when the Microsoft Word 95 was sell to the world. I believe that in the present Computers`s the best tecnology invent, because is a really complete invent: you can use to comunicate, work, study, play, see movies, etc.
I actually have a netbook.

Well, I always use this article for work and do homwework, because is a differente form to follow connected with your responsabilities releated to university (for example, teachers send links and books to read for asignatures by e-mail) and you can find many information in the web sites.
Frecuently I bring my computer at the University for write the classes in Microsoft Word, because computers is a really portable memory.

But recently, new technologies have come to create new products such as tablets and Smartphone that I think there are also very helpful to take notes in university classes. Nevertheless think that computers remain the most used tool for research, reading and surfing the internet because  it have large storage capacity and big screen, and that while a tablet can perform the same functions, the speed with that they work less and that's annoying!

Well, maybe the unique problem is that I am too addict to use internet when I check my gmail or facebook!

Another important function for computers are that connecting to the world and I use this electronic machine to speak with my parents (they live in Punta Arenas) by messenger or Skype. Is a very good form to communicate and is less expensive that celulars.

The environment that I live

These days the news and discoveries about global warming and the destruction of the earth planet have had a big impact on the world's population that  generated consequences in  the explosion of information through social networks about friendly environment practices and with it the development of environmental organizations seeking to reduce the impact that humans exert on the planet.

Bout the recycling in mi case I have not built habits such as separate waste containers by type, but one thing that I do is use cloth bags when I go to the supermarket and accumulate no more plastic . The truth is that I have a bike but it isn´t in good condition. For that reason I don´t use much my bike, but I prefer to walk when I have time during the week because many times I have wanted to mobilize myself  but I haven´t enough time to walk (since my house to University  is a half hour walk).

Personally I don´t know much about environmental organizations and for that reason I never participated in one, but  in the future I don´t  rule participate in the near future because  if we don´t take care the planet today who live in the future will not appreciate all the goodness of the earth. I wish I could have a bike in good conditions to transport me and that in my building had containers to separate the organic from the inorganic.

About the carbon footprint, for me was an unknown until I searched google, therefore I have not done much to reduce mine. Well, Chile need to give more emphasis and resources to environmental policies, while generating awareness and behavioral change in people to achieve help to reduce pollution from stop littering the street to recycle in each home.

Why young people don´t interesed in politic in Chile?

Well, talk about politic is not very simple: nowadays we can see politicals campaigns in the streets in all the cities of Chile. The reason? the presidential elections will be in November 17 and joined with that decision chilean people should vote for senators, members of parliament and for firts time we can vote for regional advisers!!

Ok, that is the fact but in the reality young people don´t have interest to vote in every government election because the politics parties of left and right finally are not representative of the ordinary people. Young people think in how year to year politics take advantage of their positions for increase their properties so left politics and right politics take decisions that only benefit big bussines and the transnational bussines that gather the majority winnings of the country. That is very serious problem because the State don´t take control about it and the social inequality continue exist and is far away to end.

The problem to go vote is with the present politic class: the Oficialism continue defending Pinochet and how this year conmemorated 40 years from the Military coup all the facts that happened in this period can´t forget and con´t  forgive the tortures (Right supported the dictatorship) and today young people try to keep the memmory from in the future never more allow this type of human violations.

The Concertación have lost credibility in the last government because they were pronunced in agree with neoliberal politics against the village people interestes, for example they continue promoted the market education and they continue favoring the rich people bacause the taxes are paid for the middle class and the low class.


The faces are always the same, young people don´t exist in the formal representation. We need young leaders that finished with this situation!

Blog post 6: Living in poverty exerts a high cognitive toll on families

This notice talk about how the poverty exerts a high cognitive toll on families because children are  mentally and emotionally depleted by living on scant resources.

Andrew is a little boy that with his "singing shoes" and he´s one of Britain's 1.6 million children living in severe poverty. Chronic poverty causes health difficulties, educational failure, mental health challenges, and impoverished aspirations because the overexposure to stress has negative consequences on physical and emotional development.

About the consequences, there is a theory of causation that  concerns a kind of cognitive depletion, a sort of cognitive tax on the poor people. The constant preoccupation with the difficulty generated as a result of not having appropriate resources narrows down thinking, focusing attention on the concern at hand. This intense and concentrated use of energy reduces a person's mental bandwidth, preventing them from managing effectively other areas of their lives, because worry is consuming them.

Some scientists believe Andrew's preoccupation with lack of appropriate clothing could be potentially comparable to losing a night's sleep, or the difference between the performance capacities of an alcoholic versus a normal adult.

People who are relentlessly living in distressing circumstances, this cognitive overload is likely to lead to exhaustion and a sort of despair which can manifest itself in poor self-control. At some point, Andrew may get fed up enough to finally steal a new pair of shoes.

As a summary, a toxic combination of lack of safety and chronic poverty is depleting people (young people). They are too tired to be good, to make an extra effort, to try harder. It is at this point that they are prepared to discard everything.

Governments are preoccupied with lowering taxes for the rich, while emotionally over-taxing the poor. It will cost.

My school friends

Hello! This week I´m going to talk about my group of friends that I have since I studied at Liceo in Punta Arenas. Well, the first thing that I can say is the frienship with they are live nowadays althought we lived in different cities because when we left secundary and enter to university some careers and the educational quality in Punta Arenas is not present than in another regions in the country.

So, my group of friends physically was separate: Carol studies in Punta Arenas, Andrés studies in Concepción, Karen studies in Valdivia, Claudia, Angie and Victor study in Valparaíso and Giordano and me study her in Santiago.

The most important thing about us is that every year or every holiday we ocasionally some of us go to Punta Arenas we joined to go out, talk of our careers and share remember the secundary times (I believe that the friendship with they is very important to my life). We try to meet in some week when we have celebrated days, for example: the last year we joined in the national party time in Valparaíso for two days and celebrated the 18! It was so fun :)

Also, someone of they visit Santiago for the day because my friends that study in Valparaiso are very near and I see they or sometines for study reasons I go to Valparaiso and meet with Angie and Claudia.

To Finally, I am very happy to have a group of friends as they because the distance is not an impediment to comunicate us and tell about our lifes. I love they!

I hope that this friendship never ends :)
